Red Steel Controls Fixed

Game Informer got a chance to play the new and improve Red Steel for the Wii as Ubisoft Paris has fixed the controls in the game.

"Not only did the remote replicate our actual sword-slashes, but the recenty unveiled motion sensor in the nunchuck could be thrust foreward for parry attacks"

"As promised, Timing and observation was key to winning the sword-fights and felt just like the mock-saber duels nearly everyone had as kids, so anyone who has dreamed of being a samuri will pick it right up"

Moore Comments on the Controller Complications

Microsoft exec Peter Moore was interviewed by Gametag Radio and in the interview, Moore stated that the Wii was a "Party Console" saying that the Wii will be good to play for only thirty minutes, however, Moore notice that games controllers are getting too complicated, but one game like Sonic Rush worked with the Wiimote. "[Sonic Rush] was almost built for the controller because it was so intuitive"

"...Shoulder buttons, triggers, analog sticks, d-pads, I mean, there's a lot going on there when you compare it to the old Atari 2600 button-and-stick, which everybody could pick up and have some fun with... Clearly, I think the Wii is trying to get back to those days."

Moore also commented that his fourteen year old daughter is getting frustrated withe the Xbox 360 controller."... she's frustrated because of the button configurations and the use of triggers; she just doesn't quite get it." And with that in mind, Microsoft is "doing a lot of stuff there... Nothing that we're ready to talk about, and we're not going to force anything that is not going to be intuitive and innovative."

High Voltage Software on Wii

Gamasutra had the chance to talk to High Voltage Software about the Wii and ESRB, but we'll forget about the ESRB section and just focus on the Wii.

High Voltage Software's Chief Creative Officer, Eric Nofsinger says this about the Wii:

"“It’s been an incredible design challenge,” he confides, “Some of the unannounced stuff we’ve been working on for Wii…it’s been very challenging. You know, ‘How do you do a fighter on this, how do you do a platformer on this?’”...

Nofsinger believes that Nintendo knows what it’s doing with the sleek, iPod like feel of the controller. “It was interesting to me,” Nofsinger relates, “I had this sitting out on my table. And our receptionist came in, and she was dropping off my mail, and just immediately ran right over to it, and was ‘what’s this?’ and picked it up and ‘oh, this is neat!’”

Nofsinger notes that he’s had every imaginable controller in the world sitting on his desk. “Never has she just run over and picked it up and gone, ‘hey what is this thing, it’s really neat?’ So there’s something to that.”"

First Call of Duty 3 Image?

Before the E3 show, Activision announced that Treyarch are developing Call of Duty 3 for the next-generation console through a teaser trailer. In Eletronic Gamer Monthly magazine, they reveal the first screenshot of Call of Duty 3 on the Nintendo Wii, however, the graphics on the Wii version are below the expectation of the Xbox 360 and PS3 version, but the game will use the Wii controller for aiming and shooting. The COD3 image looks like the same graphics as Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, but anything can change in a few months so there's hope.
Call of Duty 3 is set to release this fall for all the next-gen consoles.

Smash Bros Site Updated

Although they have run out of character bios for the moment. Masahiro Sakurai plans on keeping up some notices on the main page of the site. In this one he made a formal appology for not updating the site much, but he does have to continue with the game development. What good is a game site with no game to show it. Anyway he plans to only update the site when the game is finished in 2007 or if there are any other releases of news from Nintendo about the game, Masahiro Sakurai plans to give a little more insight into the news that they give out.

Wii to Come before PS3?

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2006, Sony announced that the PS3 will release worldwide on November 17 this year, and they also released two price point on their console. Nintendo, however, has chosen to release their information on the Wii's price and release date around September, and the only clue Nintendo gave gamers was the system was going release sometime in the Fourth Quarter.

Even though Nintendo didn't release a specific date, publishers and developers are getting their Wii games ready for an October release, and also industry insider says, "Nintendo is planning to launch Wii before PlayStation 3." Even though these facts point to a October or November release, this is still a rumor. When September comes, Nintendo release everything they know about the Wii.

Magnetia releases June 5th

Article taken form Nintendo.com.

"Scientists say magnets provide no real medical benefits, but Nintendo begs to differ. Magneticaâ„¢ is the perfect prescription to combat boredom during long summer travel. This new puzzle game, made exclusively for Nintendo DSâ„¢, involves much more than bashing aggies in a marble ring on the playground blacktop. Magnetica lures players in with a simple premise, then challenges them to keep their cool through frenzied rounds of marble elimination. Magnetica, Rated E for Everyone, launches on June 5.

"Magnetica is the perfect game to kick off our new Touch Generations brand of casual games," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "It's a game that anyone can pick up and play, whether for a few minutes or a few hours."

Magnetica is the hand-held version of the popular arcade game Puzz Loop, with a few twists that could only be possible using the abilities of Nintendo DS. Players use the touch screen to flick marbles one by one at an ever-growing spiral chain of marbles. Like-colored marbles attract one another. Whenever three marbles of the same color connect, they vanish, sometimes setting off massive chain reactions.

In single-player modes, players can find bonus items that can slow or stop time, or even reverse the course of the marbles. Challenge mode features 99 levels on four difficulty settings, Quest mode offers players a variety of missions and Puzzle mode requires players to eliminate all marbles on the screen using a limited supply of their own. Players must deal with marble-stymieing obstacles like wind, water, switches and multiple launchers. In the two-player Versus mode, players can frustrate their opponents with an array of diabolical weapons: Ion Clouds create smoke screens, Recoils block an opponent's marbles, Black Holes devour marbles and Gravitons alter the path of launched marbles.

When this was first announced to the media, it was greeted with shouts of joy that resembled screams.

What kinds of attacks will Snake unleash when he steps onto a new stage?
You'll have to wait and see."
