Nintendo Revolution now named Nintendo Wii

Introducing… Wii. As in “we.”

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games… and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it’s really not about you or me. It’s about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything.

NIBRIS Announces Sadness to Appear in Black and White

NIBRIS reports that their Revolution horror title, Sadness will be shown in black and white.

“We [NIBRIS] decided to follow Nintendo’s path, which definitely fights the stagnation which has occurred in video games, and creates new trends. With this move, we want to create a unique environment, which is only available in Sadness.” NIBRIS employee

Now RawmeatCowboy says that this idea is interesting and he's glad that NIBRIS is taking this route. I think it's interesting too, bit I'm a bit skeptic at the same time. Why I'm skeptic is because causual gamers who love to see beautiful "colors" in their game, will disregard the game because the game will be in just "black and white", but we'll see when NIBRIS release more information and any media of Sadness.

Top Gear for DS

The article was taken from GoNintendo.

"Tantalus Interactive is happy to announce its partnership with Japanese publisher Kemco to develop an innovative new racing title for the DS platform. The two companies collaborated in 2003 to produce the award winning Top Gear Rally on GBA, a game ultimately published by Nintendo. This extension of the relationship will see the creation of an original racing title for the DS, leveraging Kemco’s popular Top Gear brand. The new game, Top Gear: Downforce, will ship late in 2006 and will be the second DS release for Tantalus, following on from the hugely popular SpongeBob SquarePants: The Yellow Avenger.

Tantalus CEO Tom Crago said the company was happy to have the opportunity to develop another title in the Top Gear franchise. 'We loved the original Top Gear on N64, and of course our rally title on GBA was a big success. This time around we’re attempting something completely different. We want to create a racing game that feels perfectly at home on the DS platform, something built from the ground up to exploit the cool features of the hardware.'

Kemco President Masakatsu Hirose shared Crago’s enthusiasm. 'Top Gear Rally on GBA rates among Kemco’s most successful releases. Many people enjoyed this title, and we know that with Tantalus we can create a new game within the franchise that will be just as popular.'

Top Gear: Downforce will be a ‘top-down’ style racer, boasting 3D models, robust vehicle physics, and the ability to place hazards on the track surface using the touch screen of the DS. The game will also allow for wireless multiplayer races and data sharing between players.

More details about Top Gear: Downforce will be available at E3 in May."

Sol Tournaments presents: The Easter Soliday Tourney

Incredibly cheesy name, but it's the word Tournament that counts. On Saturday the 8th of April, I'm hosting a Hunters tournament. The winner will recieve An undecided title (plus a banner for message boards with it on) with an optional prize of 2 million Bells in ACWW.Now for details, simplified.

- The Preliminary rounds begin on Saturday, the beginning of the UK Easter Holidays (but mine have already started. =P)- Each Preliminary round is a 4 player survival battle with 3 lives each. (Possibly 3, if the 4-way server problems don't disappear)
- Every day after the prelims will be the real rounds. These will be arranged by timezone and when you are available, as well as rank.
- When you lose, you lose. Luckily you'll be entered into a "Loser" Friend pool, so you can battle with all your fellow participants.

That pretty much sums it up. Now, there are 4 non-working days in the holidays after it begins, with a possible two matches per day. So logically 4x4x2 makes 32 places. Thus, with the prelims, this comes to a grand total of 64 prelim places.

I have a freewebs site currently under refurbishment for this tounrament complete with chatroom and message board. My sources tell me the chatroom is filled with pron, so that may be taken down.

Lastly, I just want to go over how the prelims work. each of the participants are matched with an opponent and have a battle of their choice. The winner is entered into the tournament. If turnout is less that 40, then the prelims will simply be a winners ladder to weed out the exess players. And I'll leave you with a Sign up sheet. Simply e-mail me your Name and Friend code and i'll add you to the growing roster.

P.S: I understand this isn't strictly news, but wasn't Narnia's hosting way back in Winter non-news also?
