Looks like Nanostray won't be the only sci-fi DS shooter, because now Neo-Pong is in development of a game called World Reborn: Unification.NintendoNow.com is proud to present the world exclusive debut of a promising new DS title from NeoPong Software, Inc. World Reborn: Unification, the sequel to the upcoming World Reborn for Game Boy Advance, is an all new online enabled RPG/shooter for the Nintendo DS. This title will take you back to your old school roots as you embark on a highly stylized, engrossing Sci-Fi tale. Below you will find the official press release, early screenshots, and music downloads for World Reborn: Unification.
The evil Biotech forces that enslaved humanity have been defeated (*see World Reborn for the Gameboy Advance, Q3 2005) and the companions, finally able to rest, have settled down and begun the process of rebuilding civilization. Thiel and Mei have wed and given birth to a child. Perrin and Freya have rebuilt the impressive sky civilization and Richter, one of the former Judge computers, has happily filled the role of advisor to the new leaders.
Disproving the Judge computerâs doom-filled prophecy of mankindâs self-induced destruction, the heroes seem to have achieved worldwide peace and mankind is flourishing again. It is on a peaceful afternoon outing that Thiel and his family suddenly find themselves thrust into the middle of an erupting violence from a new and unknown aggressor. Not willing to watch all he has worked for be destroyed, Thiel once again calls his comrades to arms and a new battle begins to save the planet from an alien threat!
In World Reborn: Unification, Thiel will once more take on a valiant quest to push back an invading alien force. He will travel with old comrades and meet new friends who will join the cause. The original ships are back with improvements as well as two entirely new ships with unique abilities of their own. This time the plot runs deep as the player will engage on one of two completely different paths that will allow for maximum replayability and unique experiences.
World Reborn: Unification expands upon an already diverse array of weaponry and offers the player two firing modes on their primary weapon, a selection of secondary weapons, a new assortment of interchangeable special abilities, combo power-ups (rewards for a successful string of kills) and various super-shots.
Thanks to the innovative new technology offered by the Nintendo DS, World Reborn: Unification will allow players to hook up online to play in simultaneous cooperative mode and compare scores via an online ranking system.
The touch pad allows the player to switch out special abilities, firing modes, and secondary weapons on the fly. The boss battles in World Reborn: Unification differ from the common shooter battles that involve holding down the fire button. Instead, players must use their various abilities in their inventory to expose the bossâs weakness to defeat him!
As with its predecessor, World Reborn: Unification focuses on classic 2D gameplay, witty dialogue and revitalizing old school gaming. The graphics feature high color, detailed 2D sprites and vibrant backgrounds. Levels are expansive, require exploration and contain many secrets. Difficulty levels are implemented to permit gameplay from casual gamers to hardcore enthusiasts.
