Top Gun DS

It appears that Mastiff is making a new version of an old game for DS, Top Gun.

The main features of Top Gun include:
-Top Gun Competition Campaign includes elite training and realistic combat/
-Choose pilots named for characters in the movie/
-Choose different fighter planes, each with different handling characteristics/
-10 diverse missions across arctic, ocean, forest and desert zones/
-Weapons include machine gun, fire-and-forget missiles, homing missiles/
-Multiplayer dogfight for 2-4 players/
-Stunning visual effects include explosions, water splashes, smoke, and gun/rocket trails.
-Challenging weather effects include sun, rain, animated clouds, and snow.Pulse-pounding music reminiscent of the movie soundtrack.

"Top Gun's intense action translates perfectly into a videogame. Top Gun exploits the capabilities of the Nintendo DS to duplicate that experience in a handheld environment."
Bill Swartz, Mastiff

That's not actually a bad idea Jimmie (Patrick) for the DS to attract older games, here's why.

Some games didn't work out on consoles, pc etc because of control. DS seems to excite some developers of those games to take advantage of it's capabilities and give them new life. Or life at all if they didn't sell well. Of course it has to fit right on DS or it's a wasted effort (Retro Atari Classics). A good example would be the coming of Intellivision Lives where the control scheme is supposedly perfect on the DS so why not remake it if it's fun?
