Nintendo DS outsells PS2 and PSP combined
It seems that Sony's first hand-held to enter the market is not doing nearly as well as Sony's analysts first thought. The less technically impressive Nintendo DS has been outselling both the Sony PSP hand-held and and the Sony PlayStation 2 home console combined! It seems like Sony is a stick in the mud here. Yes Nintendo is the KING of handhled games but the JESTER of consoles...LAST place.
So in time the PSP may out sell the DS, but for now the fan boys of Nintendo can all jerk circle on Yoshi for a few more weeks.
DONT FORGET...a few weeks BEFORE THAT.. PSP was out selling the DS...so its no victory to the Fan Boys.
The competition is a great victory for all us Game fans.
Nice job, but only for a few weeks.
Also, the console Game cube is the worst selling, so report that also.
I would agree that the Gamecube was a disappointment (even if Nintendo wont admitt it) but I also believe that they have the power to turn it around if anybody does. Not to say they could just take the market back over night or even at all. But you know the Revolution will be competitive as hell and will surprise some people. Look at it this way; We've already seen what the Xbox 360 and the PS3 can do so there's not much else they can do to impress now but make the games quality. Nintendo, on the othe hand, can really surprise us with the Revolution. I think with the DS they've gotten a good focus back and some developers are making games for them who never would have considered Nintendo platforms. If they can do something similar with the Revolution, it'll be a good thing for everybody. Let's face it, it Nintendo hasn't figured out that they need to bring the big guns this time then they never will. I think we'll see the big guns though. Why report that the gamecube is doing bad? This is a DS site!
... And the Gamecube was more profitable than the other two systems.
I've been watching the charts since the DS was first released. And I believe it will only grow stronger after Nintendogs and Trace Memory make their way to the States. It a fun system and not insanely priced like the PSP. I'm a huge believer in portable innovation and Nintendo has done just that.
It's all about what you like to play. Fun is the key here, not power or flash.

First of all, Cube isn't the worst selling in Japan (which is what these figures are talking about). Second of all, this site has no business talking about GameCube.
And you say that PSP was outselling DS before that, and this is true. However, DS has sold more units in Japan in 2005. In the last five or six weeks, DS has been in the lead, and it has a stronger weekly lead than the PSP had from January through March. This past week (when DS outsold PSP 2:1 again), DS overtook PSP's 2005 sales numbers. Couple that with DS absolutely blowing away PSP in sales in 2004, and there are twice as many DSes on the streets of Japan as PSPs. DS also has 4 games in the top 10 for last week, to PSP's 1. There are always one or two DS games in the top 10, but a PSP game up there is extremely rare. naples luxury real estate

Notice how Capcom has 10 PSP games in the works and only 3 for DS? Guess they haven't been reading the latest sales charts. Capcom always runs to Sony to make them a quick buck because some of their franchises really stink (aside from RE4 and DMC) of late. My point is that when they see a loss with the PSP (which they will) they'll come running back to the DS. I'm pretty sure that Megaman, Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney, and Viewtiful Joe will sell well on the DS. We'll see.
For those of you claiming that the Nintendo GameCube is a failure, I hope you know that the most anticipated game of 2005 is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (which is a GameCube title, mind you). Analysts everywhere are going on about how it will boost Nintendo GameCube sales by an incredulous amount. This isn't the first time a game largely helped out hardware sales. Remember Resident Evil 4? It's still a notorious top-seller. ;)
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
Exxecellent news. And it will only get stronger once....all those other games come out. :P

The issue with the PSP is that Sony's not marketing it as a gaming device, they're marketing it as everything BUT that, as the commercials can attest. People who are looking for a handheld system aren't interested in buying another MP3 player or a portable video player, they're interested in buying a portable gaming console, and Sony's treating that part of the PSP like it's an afterthought. Nintendo, on the other hand, has marketed the DS as a console for gamers and non-gamers alike and the games that have been released can attest to that. Hence why they sell much better than the PSP.
