Crucial Time For Nintendo

February 2004; Hiroshi Yamauchi

'If we are unsuccessful with the Nintendo DS, we may not go bankrupt, but we will be crushed. The next two years will be a really crucial time for Nintendo.'

I found this quote while searching the forums today and I think it says alot about the place where Nintendo is right now. It's a scary thought to think of Nintendo going bankrupt. That's all I have to say because thinking of Nintendo going down is really sad thought for me.

I'm pretty sure it will succeed as well, but you have to wonder what will happen if it doesn't

I am very confident that the DS will succeed, the SP is doing extremely well and I think the DS will follow in its foot steps.

It will do well if people start thinking for themselves. I know a lot of people who's reasons for not wanting Nintendo was because they didn't want to be regarded as a kid. Those same people got a PS2 and mature rated games which even though now they are 'cool' they don't like playing them.

I think Nintendo is losing because of these opinions. It's clear to me that Nintendo has great games always, but so many people don't care just because of peer pressure.

I'm sure the DS will do fine if the development community continues to support it with good ideas and for sure, online play.
